Josef Danhauser was the most prolific cabinetmaker of the Biedermeier period. His designs were not only known to the bourgeoisie and aristocracy in Vienna, but throughout Europe. Geometric forms, such as the cylindrical columns supporting the armrest, characterize his furniture.
