Cherry with fine penwork depicting lions and neoclassical scroll.

The three-piece ebonized decorative supports in the backs of the chairs, in their spreading form, resemble a reed plant. This decoration had its origin in British furniture which used three feathers, as they are shown in the coat of arms of the Prince of Wales. The acanthus leaf detail with lion figures has its origin in classical antiquity. These are also offered as a set</a href> with matching settee and armchair.
