Architect and designer Otto Prutscher showed this table at the Exhibition of the Deutscher Werkbund in Cologne in 1914, where he was represented with his “Room for an Art Collection”. The Austrian pavilion at the Werkbund Exhibition was designed by Josef Hoffmann, under whom Prutscher had trained as a student at the School of Applied Arts. In 1914 Otto Prutscher also became a vital member of the Wiener Werkstaette, for whom he designed furniture, glass, textiles, metalwork, furniture and jewelry.
