By 1870 Thonet furniture had undoubtedly reached the stage at which the technical development of the bentwood porcess matched a formal design that remains valid to this day.

Chair No. 14, the famous coffee house chair, is made up of only six components: the back with the back legs in one, the back rest, the circular seat, the leg hoop and the front legs. Ideal for shipping, 3 dozen disassembled chairs fit into a 36 cubic ft. size container.
