The stepped base has a lotus pattern below an egyptian caryatid figure supporting a sphere with a ring relief scene. The sphere is flanked by curved twin branches with birds heads, crowned by urn candleholders. Inspired by Napoleon I’s North African
campaign of 1798, Egyptian motifs became a significant
decorative element in Empire pieces.
