Unlike metal objects, glass was never manufactured by the Wiener Werkstaette. Perhaps because its production required complex facilities, it was easier to license the work to outside firms of production. In the production of glass, two firms, Lobmeyr and Bakalowits, dominated the industry. In 1910 Lobmeyr executed its first designs by Hoffmann. This glass lamp, model no. 40, was designed by Josef Hoffmann for Lobmeyr in 1914, with the appropriate lamp shade named “waterfall”.
