The graceful form of this elegant tilt-top round table with its uplifting feeling is a good example of Viennese Biedermeier. The lively ash veneered top is supported by a hexagonal column on a tripod base. During the Biedermeier era, wood veneer was the primary decorative element in furniture design. As can be seen in this piece, the cabinetmaker allowed the beauty of the ash veneer to speak for itself. Only the clean, uninterrupted ebonized inlaid lines emphasize the design.
