This exceptional fountain with a putto riding a dolphin reflects Löffler’s approach to art. His playful ideas, light-heartedness and simplicity continue to attract and charm us today.

Bertold Löffler graduated under Czeschka and Koloman Moser at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna in 1900 before being appointed professor, where he taught painting until 1935. In 1906 he founded the Wiener Keramik together with Powolny and the sculptor Lang. The products were sold through the Wiener Werkstaette after 1908. Löffler co-founded the Kunstschau (Art Show), the first exhibition to be held in 1908.

Over the following years he worked on all major Wiener Werkstätte projects, such as the interior of the Cabaret Fledermaus and Palais Stocklet. His work for the Wiener Werkstätte included ceramics, graphic art, jewelry and costumes. He was also a member of the Kuenstlerhaus and Austrian Werkbund, taking part in all major exhibitions of his day.
